Liverpool are still interested in a really talented Brazilian star.
Michael Edwards is not giving up on his mission to break into the South American market. We've seen so many players being linked with the Reds from the continent but very few have actually ended up at Anfield directly from South America.
There's been near misses, Rodrygo being one, Andre being another and over the course of the last few years Liverpool's scouting base has definitely grown in the region.
But still Edwards nor his recruitment team have been able to break into the market in the same way the likes of Chelsea, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and of course most impressively Brighton have.
Sooner or later Liverpool will want to take a punt on a player and join those clubs who have reaped the rewards and not only itengrated key stars into their first-team in the process but also made a profit.
Just take a look at the Moises Caicedo deal for Brighton, or how much profit Man City made by selling Julian Alvarez.
So, there's good business to be had. Liverpool just need to find the right profile and the right option.
Well, it looks like they are certain eyeing up those potential gems and the latest report suggests one of those players could be Gabriel Mec from Brazil.
According to Nicolo Schira, Liverpool are still interested in the Gremio winger, who is only 17-years-old.
A small player with very quick feet, Mec can play as a left-winger but he can also be used as an attacking midfielder. He's a good and high volume dribbler.
He loves to take players on and he's got brilliant technique that makes him very eye-catching to watch.
So, far he has only made two senior appearances for Gremio, so he's not the most experienced player.
As we said above he's not the tallest and physically he could definitely improve and become a lot stronger, especially if he were to come to England.
But he does have exciting potential.
The technique that he possess and those dribbling attributes cannot be taught. He's also an excellent runner and covers a lot of ground.
In terms of profile he's the type of player who loves to cut in from the left. A bit like Florian Wirtz. It's why he would make a lot of sense as a no.10 or potentially as a left-forward in Liverpool's system.
Obviously, signing him would be one for the future. Mec isn't someone who is going to hit the ground running straight away.

For now as per FIFA rules he's not even eligible to move to England until he celebrates his 18th birthday. That won't be until April, which means the closest window he could move in is the summer 2026 one.
At that point it would not be a surprise to see Liverpool make a move. If they continue to be interested in him, Mec seems like an ideal profile to bring in and work on him.
Whether they do that by sending him on loan or getting him to play U21 football to acclimatise to the English game is up to Liverpool.
But it's about time they take a put on a player and Mec could be a very interesting long-term project.
