Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak.

Liverpool are currently overachieving their xG by +2.89, the only team ahead of them in this metric being Tottenham.

This game will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League.

Slot will be without his number one keeper, as Alisson Becker “felt something” against Galatasaray in the week, with the Dutch coach confirming he won’t be available against Chelsea at the weekend.

Another certain absentee is central defender, Giovanni Leoni who tore his ACL, and will therefore be out for around a year.

Both Federico Chiesa and Hugo Ekitike are being assessed for the Chelsea game, with both nursing smaller injuries.

One big decision for this game will be who Slot decides to field at right-back, as Jeremie Frimpong is available, but the Dutch coach could also opt for Dominik Szoboszlai at full-back, forming a box midfield with all three of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz.

Florian Wirtz yet to flourish

Liverpool and Chelsea are the two sides averaging the most passes attempted per match, both averaging 538.17 passes.

Slot’s side are creating 11.33 chances per match, with only Manchester United managing more, whilst averaging 2.17 big chances created per game, only behind Manchester City and Crystal Palace in this metric.

However, a lot of the “big” chance creation is currently reliant on their wide men, as £116m summer signing, Florian Wirtz, is yet to create a single big chance, despite creating 10 chances.

Wirtz is yet to provide a single goal or assist, with the chances being created as things stand not equating to high value chances, averaging 0.14 xAG per 90 from his 2.04 key passes per 90.

The German midfielder is bound to get off the mark soon, and Liverpool fans will be hoping it comes against Chelsea, getting back to winning ways and retaining their spot at the top of the league heading into the international break.
