Lookman bids farewell to Atalanta fans after completing Atletico Madrid move

Ademola Lookman has bid farewell to Atalanta after completing a permanent €40m move to Atletico Madrid on deadline day.

The Nigeria international spent the past three and a half years in Bergamo and marked his departure with a message to supporters on social media. The player said in a post that he was welcomed from the start and pushed to be his best.

He reflected that they made history together as European champions, recalling his hat-trick in a European final and lifting a trophy that ended a 61-year drought.

He noted that winning Africa Player of the Year in 2024 while at Atalanta would always stay with him.

Lookman also thanked his team-mates, the staff and the club. He told fans their passion, belief and energy mattered and that they stood by him and the team.

He said every cheer, banner and away trip meant something, adding that Bergamo felt like home. He signed off with an Italian farewell.
