Lula to meet FIFA over 2029 Club World Cup host | OneFootball

Lula will meet FIFA president Gianni Infantino to discuss the 2029 Club World Cup host.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the meeting is scheduled for 11:00 Brasília time on Monday 26, and Lula will ask for Brazil to stage the 2029 tournament and the 2027 FIFA Congress.

The revamped competition will hold its second edition in 2029, and the venue has not yet been decided.

Flamengo are the first Brazilian side to secure a place, having won the 2025 Libertadores by beating Palmeiras 1-0, with Danilo scoring for Filipe Luís’s side.

They also played the first edition in 2025 after lifting the 2022 Libertadores, joining Palmeiras, Fluminense and Botafogo as Brazil’s representatives.

Flamengo topped Group D with seven points, defeating Espérance and Chelsea and drawing with Los Angeles FC, before losing 4-2 to Bayern Munich in the last 16.

Meanwhile, Flamengo start their Brasileirão campaign on Wednesday 28 against São Paulo at 21:30 Brasília time at MorumBIS.
