The shortlist for the PFA Scotland Scottish Premiership Player of the year was announced yesterday and as expected it was dominated by players from the champions, with Callum McGregor, Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda all selected alongside Dundee’s Simon Murray.
All four players in the running deserve to be in contention after having stand out campaigns, but there can only be one winner and that is our very own Daizen Maeda.
Every player in the Scottish Premiership gets a vote and they are NOT allowed to vote for their teammates
Callum McGregor has had a terrific season scoring some vital goals and leading us to yet another league title, whilst Nicolas Kuhn has on the whole been superb despite a recent drop in form which he has now thankfully rediscovered.

Simon Murray of Dundee has also been in great form scoring numerous goals for a struggling Dundee side where he has been a real talisman as the Dens Park side look to retain their Scottish Premiership status, but no one deserves the honour more than Daizen.
Daizen Maeda currently top scorer in the league, he was the top scorer in the League Cup, and likewise in the Scottish Cup. It’s not just his goals but his all round play that makes him the stand out nominee. He’s head and shoulders above everyone in the country at the moment making him more than a worthy player of the year.

It would be astonishing if Daizen Maeda doesn’t win all the Player of the Year awards over the next month. Truly astonishing but as it’s Scottish football we’re talking about we’ll not count any chickens, expect for Celtic’s own awards where the players and the supporters will both choose Daizen.
