Inter Milan are reportedly ever closer to sealing the signature of struggling Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dane endured a miserable second campaign in England, only scoring four goals in the Premier League. His ‘sloppy’ displays became synanymous with the club’s abysmal results in what was the Red Devils’ worst campaign in decades.

Therefore, many believe the ‘unhappy’ 22-year-old would do with a new experience away from Carrington, while United certainly need a more accomplished centre-forward to lead the line.

In recent weeks, Hojlund emerged as a transfer target for some of the biggest clubs in Serie A. After all, the young bomber had managed to build a decent reputation during his solitary campaign at Atalanta, with his exploits earning him a £62 million move to Old Trafford.

But while Juventus and Napoli were mentioned as potential suitors, Inter are clearly ahead of the queue.

Man United & Rasmus Hojlund set to part ways

After parting ways with Simone Inzaghi, the humbled Champions League finalists are keen to add some firepower upfront, as they look to bounce back next season under the tutelage of their imminent new manager, Christian Chivu.

According to the Daily Mail, the 20-time Italian champions have made significant progress in their attempts to sign Hojlund.

The Serie A giants were initially hoping to secure an initial loan agreement with an option to buy, but they have now established new contacts with Man United, and they’re willing to finalise a permanent transfer straight away.

Moreover, a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) claims that INEOS have set their price at £38-42 million.

If United managed to offload Hojlund for a decent figure, they would be able to reinvest the cash on a new striker.

The Reds have already secured the services of Matheus Cunha, and they’re closing in on Bryan Mbuemo. But as Fabrizio Romano and several other sources explain, United would like to follow up on these two additions by buying a top-notch centre-forward.
