Man and Pepi ignite first half surge to keep leaders clear

PSV beat Excelsior 5-1 at the Philips Stadion to stay top of the Eredivisie, powered by a four-goal first half.
In the eighth minute Paul Wanner steered in from the centre of the box after Dennis Man's pass. Ricardo Pepi doubled the lead (23.). Yarek Gąsiorowski glanced in a Mauro Júnior cross from a corner (33.) before Ryan Flamingo headed in Joey Veerman's delivery (39.). Ilias Bronkhorst replied in the first minute of first half stoppage time.
Matej Kovar then denied Bronkhorst with a header saved in the sixth minute of first half stoppage time.
Pepi departed injured before the half-hour, and substitute Couhaib Driouech later teed up Man to add a fifth with a low finish (69.).
Man had already struck the post early on during a dominant start.
Veerman remains second in the Eredivisie assists chart on eight for the season.
The Boeren tallied 16 attempts, eight on target. Excelsior produced eight attempts, three on target.
