Nottingham Forest submitted a €25 million plus €5 million bid for Manchester City star Rico Lewis (Foot Mercato). The Tricky Trees want a new right-back at the City Ground.
However, Man City rejected the Nottingham Forest bid. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have to come up with a revised offer to force a sale.
Forest managed to keep hold of right-back Ola Aina this summer, but want to add competition for the position. They have turned to Lewis.
The Nottingham Forest target made 44 appearances for Man City last season, scoring twice and providing five assists. His form wasn’t always stellar, but he is a gem.
Lewis would be a massive coup for Forest if they can land him this summer.
The allure of playing consistently could entice him to move to the City Ground, especially with City eyeing Tino Livramento.
Forest will be competing in the Europa League following the decision to demote Crystal Palace to the Conference League.
It is an opportunity for the Tricky Trees to attract a higher calibre of players.
Forest have been pursuing another Man City star, James McAtee. They are reportedly close to a deal for the midfielder who can operate as a no. 8 or 10.
Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo is eager to bolster his midfield options after the summer departures of Danilo to Botafogo and Lewis O’Brien to Wrexham.
The club also held talks with AC Milan over a deal for American international Yunus Musah and explored the possibility of signing Douglas Luiz from Juventus.
Strengthening the centre of the pitch remains a top priority as Forest look to rebuild their engine room ahead of the new campaign.
