Man United and Liverpool are both interested in one of Sheffield Wednesday's brightest young prospects, launching bids this week for the 17-year-old.
Man United and Liverpool are eyeing a six-figure raid of Sheffield Wednesday for one of their brightest young stars.
Sheffield Wednesday have already lost Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri and Romario Collins to the Premier League this season, with both signing for Manchester City earlier in the year. However, another could be set to follow in January.
The transfer window is less than two weeks away from opening, with Wednesday in a difficult financial position heading into the winter market. They have made three additions to bolster their ranks, with Harry Amass joined by the experience of Liam Cooper and Nathan Redmond.
They are two of just 14 players over the age of 22, with the Owls having to put some of their young stars into the first-team mix this term. That includes 17-year-old left-back Yisa Alao.
The Doncaster-born defender made his professional debut at the age of just 16 when he came off the bench to replace Olaf Kobacki in an EFL Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers. He then made his senior league debut this week against Derby County, replacing Amass as a late substitute in the 3-0 defeat.

Premier League interest in Sheffield Wednesday's Alao emerged this week. There has since been a further update. As per The Star, there is growing interest from Premier League clubs in Alao. Man United and Liverpool are among them.
The report adds that both Liverpool and United have made offers to Wednesday in an attempt to sign the 17-year-old. That comes after outstanding displays at youth level saw him make the step up to the senior team in recent months.
The Owls have been trying to get a deal done to get him signed up on his first professional deal without success. It's now thought that both offers from the great rivals came in "around the mid-level six-figure mark".
As of now, it's stated that neither have been accepted. However, the Owls are desperate to try and keep hold of both Alao and fellow promising teenager Will Grainger as well.
The issue is that the financial problems that continue to surround the club aren’t making it easy for Wednesday, meaning sales for some of their brightest talents remain likely heading into January.

The Star also reported over the summer that the sales of Sutura Kakay, Collins, and Cadamarteri could end up earning the club around £2 million. Of course, these kinds of fees are only short-term gains, with Wednesdsay wanting to retain their best young talent.
However, the majority are necessary in their situation. Another high enough six-figure fee would improve their situation and help to continue the funding of the club.
There are clear concerns about throwing teenagers straight into Championship football, but those who have managed to withstand the challenge have emerged as players who Sheffield Wednesday fans can be confident about being the future of the club.
But the current crop of stars are not all going to be a part of their League One journey next term, which is a difficult pill to swallow when watching many develop so rapidly this season.
