Man United line up marquee pre-season clashes vs. PSG, Milan and Atletico Madrid | OneFootball

Manchester United are reportedly set to face European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, as the club’s pre-season plans start to gather pace.

Pre-season awaits

United have had a strong season, with the key turning point coming when Michael Carrick was appointed caretaker manager after Ruben Amorim’s dismissal.

Carrick has taken charge of 10 games, winning seven, drawing two and losing just one. At present, United sit in third place in the Premier League and firmly on course to seal a sensational return to the Champions League.

The Red Devils are already looking ahead, with pre-season planning in overdrive. It is well known that United are poised to face Wrexham in Helsinki in July. More recently, a report covered by The Peoples Person also confirmed that United will come up against arch-rivals Leeds United at Croke Park stadium in Dublin on Wednesday 12th August.

This has since been announced by the club, with director of football Jason Wilcox saying in an official statement, “We’re excited to be heading to Dublin to face Leeds United as part of our pre-season preparations ahead of a big campaign.”

“Playing an important fixture against one of our biggest rivals gives us a fantastic opportunity to connect with our supporters in Ireland. Their passion and energy will be invaluable as we build momentum and ensure the squad is in the strongest possible shape for the start of the 2026/27 season.”

The Athletic have revealed United’s full pre-season schedule, which includes tasty meetings vs. reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

High-profile tests

The newspaper says that United will play pre-season friendlies in Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Republic of Ireland and Poland between July and August.

The 20-time English champions usually head to North America but due to this summer’s World Cup, they will tour Europe and spend more time training at Carrington.

The Athletic adds, “The team plan to go back and forward to play games against Wrexham in Helsinki, Finland on July 18, Rosenborg in Trondheim, Norway on July 24, Atletico Madrid in Stockholm, Sweden on August 1, Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenborg, Sweden on August 8, Leeds United at Croke Park, Dublin, Ireland on August 12 and AC Milan in Wroclaw, Poland on August 15.”

“United did have interest from Asia for staging some friendlies there but seem to have decided against that.”

The 2026/27 Premier League campaign is scheduled to start on August 22, one week after the AC Milan meeting.
