Manchester United have reportedly offered Turkish outfit Trabzonspor the chance to sign Andre Onana, but there’s one big problem that must be sorted out first.
The closure of the English transfer window on Monday evening has not eased the uncertainty surrounding Onana’s future at United.
Onana has seemingly lost his starting place in the team to Altay Bayindir, who has started all three of United’s Premier League fixtures so far this term.
Onana was given a chance to impress and possibly regain a starting berth during the EFL Cup match against Grimsby Town, but the Cameroonian failed in spectacular fashion. He was culpable for both goals that Grimsby scored in the first half and also didn’t cover himself in glory during the penalty shootout as United were dumped out of the competition.
On deadline day, United confirmed the signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, further fuelling speculation that Onana’s time at Old Trafford may have come to an end.
Earlier today, a report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that Onana could still leave for the Saudi Pro League, with United talks over a potential exit.
Now, it has emerged that a switch to the Super Lig also remains a possibility, with the goalkeeper offered to Trabzonspor ahead of the Turkish transfer window’s closure on September 12.
Sporx state, that Trabzonspor are on the hunt for a goalkeeper after parting ways with Uğurcan Çakır, and Onana is one of the names on their list.
Trabzonspor had initially set their sights on signing a goalkeeper from their own league, but steep fee demands have pushed them to broaden their search.
The news outlet claims that United have offered Trabzonspor the chance to sign Onana on loan.
However, the problem is that Trabzonspor are more keen on Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega and even made an offer to Pep Guardiola’s side.
Unless there is a drastic shift in transfer stance, it appears unlikely that Onana will be heading to Trabzonspor.
