Manchester United have delivered an incredibly positive injury update on Patrick Dorgu as he eyes a sensational return to action.

Stepping up return

Dorgu has been sidelined since January, when he sustained an injury during United’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates.

He started that game and netted a superb strike, smashing the ball in off the underside of the bar. The superb finish came off the back of bagging United’s second of their 2-0 win against Manchester City.

Shortly after beating David Raya from distance, Dorgu pulled up with an injury, forcing Michael Carrick to take him off. It later emerged that he would be out for around 10 weeks.

United recently published images of Dorgu working hard in the gym at Carrington and now, the club has issued a further update.

Dorgu update

The Red Devils have released a statement which partly says, “Manchester United winger Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu has taken a new step on his road to recovery.”

“We can now reveal that Dorgu has progressed to working on the pitches on an individual basis at our training base, as seen on the footage above, as the next phase of his rehabilitation.”

“There is still no timeline on his return to first-team action, but he continues to work on his recovery with the current aim of being back with the squad before the end of the season.”

It remains unknown whether Dorgu will travel with his teammates to the training camp in Ireland.

United are set to hold a four-day training camp just outside Dublin, starting from 6 April. It has already been confirmed that Lisandro Martinez, who has missed the past five games with a calf issue, will be part of the group.

Dorgu’s return to the grass is a very positive development. Whether he is fit enough to link up with the others remains to be seen.

Michael Carrick and his players are next in action on 13 April when they welcome Leeds United to Old Trafford.
