Manchester United will look to return to winning ways when they travel to Wolves in the Premier League on Monday at 8pm.
The match will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.
Ruben Amorim looks set for a double fitness boost in defence for the visit of Wolves.
Matthijs de Ligt missed the draw with West Ham due to a minor knock, but Amorim ‘thinks’ the Netherlands international will be back in action on Monday. However, with Noussair Mazraoui putting in a strong performance against West Ham, Amorim may give De Ligt a little more time to fully recover, especially with Leny Yoro able to replace Ayden Heaven in the starting line-up.
Diogo Dalot scored in that 1-1 draw, but had to come off at 68 minutes after signalling discomfort to the bench. But similarly to De Ligt, Amorim is hopeful the Portuguese wing-back will be fit and firing against Wolves. If that is the case, he’ll retain his place in the line-up.
Joshua Zirkzee was disappointing against West Ham, but his recent goal against Crystal Palace should still offer him enough credit to retain his starting spot — especially with Benjamin Sesko out until the end of December.
Harry Maguire is still about 10 days away from a return to fitness.
Things are certainly trending in the right direction for Manchester United, but it still feels like one step forward, followed by another one back.
Three wins in a row against Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton fired the Red Devils up the Premier League table, but that run could only be followed up by draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, and a defeat to Everton.
Then, Amorim’s side came from behind to pick up a very impressive 2-1 victory away at high-flying Crystal Palace, only to surrender a lead to draw 1-1 at home to West Ham last time out.
United still sit eighth in the table and are just two points adrift of the top four. However, things would look even better if they could just find a little consistency and cutting edge.
Amorim is starting to bank a little more credit and show tentative signs that he’s moving United forward. But next, he needs to prove that this side are capable of a consistent run, rather than just delivering in fits and starts.
Wolves sit bottom of the table with just two points from 14 games, so nothing less than a convincing win will be accepted here.
