In a recent report, The Sun revealed that Manchester City are big admirers of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club would have to rival Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to land the Italian talent this summer.
Tonali has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Tyneside club in this campaign so far as he produced a handful of solid performances for them at the centre of the park. The Italian talent has picked up five assists in 35 matches for the Magpies this season across various competitions.
The 25-year-old is currently one of the first names in Eddie Howe’s teamsheet. Hence, it is no wonder that Man City are among the clubs hoping to land the Italian sensation.
Tonali is under contract at St. James’ Park until the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Tonali is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
The Italy international can contribute by securing his fair share of assists from midfield. Tonali is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man City.
We can expect Tonali to enhance the quality of Pep Guardiola’s midfield department. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years.
At 25, Tonali has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for the Mancunian giants to consider in the long run. He might even help Man City challenge for some major honours over the next few years. Therefore, Guardiola should think about recruiting him next summer.
