In a recent report, AS revealed that Manchester City are monitoring the progress of Liverpool playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai. It is understood that the Mancunian club would have to compete with Real Madrid in the race to land the Hungarian talent next year.
Szoboszlai has put in a handful of influential displays for the Reds during this Premier League campaign. The Hungary international has found the back of the net twice and earned five assists in 16 appearances for the Merseyside club this season in multiple competitions.
The 25-year-old has done well to average 1.91 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has kept 33.3% of his attempts on target. Szoboszlai has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 83.1% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).
Szoboszlai is under contract at the Merseyside club until the summer of 2028. Thus, Man City would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him next year.

Szoboszlai can strike the ball purely and with venom from long range. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and is an energetic runner with the ball.
The Hungary international usually works hard for his team defensively and doesn’t mind putting his body on the line to block a shot at the back. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-back if told to do so.
We can expect Szoboszlai to enhance the quality of Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola’s first XI. He is good enough to secure regular first-team football at the Etihad Stadium. The Hungary international is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man City.
At 25, Szoboszlai has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for the Mancunian club’s needs next year. All in all, Man City would be wise to go for a player of his quality and skill set this January or at the end of the season.
