Manchester City fans watched on as their team deservedly lost on Saturday.
Eddie Howe and his Newcastle United team had defeated Pep Guardiola and his side just over two years ago at St James’ Park, in the League Cup.
However, this was a first ever win as a manager for Eddie Howe in the Premier League, having failed to do so in the previous 18 attempts when with Bournemouth and then United.
Manchester City fans seeing their players lose in a Premier League match for the first time since January 2019 when Rafa Benitez registered a 2-1 victory.
Great to see how well the Newcastle United players performed on Saturday to get a valuable three points and getting what they deserved.
A big bonus as well to see so many Manchester City fans struggling to cope with the defeat…
Manchester City fans commenting via their Blue Moon message board after losing to Newcastle United on Saturday:
‘I said before the game I’d settle for a draw because Newcastle in champs league big games have been great!
Plus they hard all there best players back and their midfield is one of the best!’
‘Newcastle deserved it. They wanted it more. We were bobbins (especially pep).’
‘Tell you what, I’ve gone right off that smarmy choir boy faced Harvey Barnes as well.’
‘A tough loss to take. We should have scored more, we also gave up too many big chances.
Just not good enough against any decent team away from home.’
‘Is the club going to put in an official complaint about the officiating on Saturday?’
‘Not going to lose too much sleep over this one. Newcastle played well.’
‘The PFA should certainly be doing/saying something about potentially career-ending tackles like that baboon Schaer on Foden.’
‘I think that was a typical performance from the officials that we have seen over the last decade or so. Makes all the trophies we’ve won even more remarkable.’
‘Can’t we leave that sort of stuff to sore losers? I like to think we’re better than that.’
‘Tough place to play straight out of a break, but still a disappointing performance.
Why is Pep shoehorning Cherki into the starting lineup? Versus the most physical midfield in the league, no less.’
‘It was a daylight robbery.
We should absolutely complain about 2-1 defeat where we didn’t get 2 obvious penalties, opponent got an offside goal and Schar + Tonali not only didn’t get a red card but weren’t even booked!’
‘It wasn’t three terrible decisions, it was around ten.’
‘No. We all have a go at arsenal and liverpool fans when they behave in this way after a bad decision, so let’s not lower ourselves to that level.
Yes the ref had a bad game, but it’s time to move on. The far more worrying thing to me was how toothless we looked.’
‘We saw similar on social media to this thread, after the Liverpool match. And we rightly took the p.ss.’
‘We weren’t good enough to get a result. We weren’t robbed by the officials. Even if they made errors or were poor… it wasn’t blatant corruption.’
‘I thought we should have at least one pens, but decisions not always go your way.
Complaining when a decision doesn’t go your way to the fa is pretty poor in my opinion. Leave that to Liverpool.’
‘We’re in a rebuilding/transitional phase of development. We have fantastic players, with flaws in their game.
Against Newcastle, our current squad – no matter who plays – was going to struggle. We can’t keep the ball as well as we used to without conceding numerous chances for the opposition… because our press is both not as intense as it used to be, and because our players aren’t nearly as good at winning one-on-one duals.
Anyhow, Newcastle way was a 50-50- for me. We lost. So be it.’
‘Eddie Howe gets away with playing shi.e football because he is an English manager. Basically they are overly physical and if it was clear to anyone we would need more than Nico & Bernardo in midfield against their midfield three so I would put that on Pep.’
(***The vast majority of the comments from Manchester City fans were claiming corruption, hard done by etc etc. However, would have been a bit boring putting up more of these kind of lame comments, as so many of them just saying the same thing over and over again, claiming some kind of conspiracy against Man City. Quite incredible really when Newcastle United have suffered so many appalling decisions by match officials when playing this lot, especially in games at St James’ Park)
