Rayan Cherki has been out of action since the end of August. The French international has missed Manchester City’s past five matches due to a thigh injury. It was expected that Cherki would be out of action for two months due to that particular injury. A new report has indicated that the French international is expected to return to training in the near future. It appears that Manchester City may have received an unexpected boost on the injury front.
Loic Tanzi has reported for L’Equipe that Rayan Cherki underwent an MRI scan earlier this week. The scan revealed that Cherki’s muscle injury had healed. Furthermore, it is reported by Tanzi that the creative midfielder has resumed rehabilitation work. Tanzi further reports that Cherki will return to Manchester City training in the coming days. Lastly, Loic Tanzi reports that Cherki could be a part of Manchester City’s squad for their upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture against AS Monaco, or for Manchester City’s trip to the GTech Community Stadium to take on Brentford on Sunday week. It is unlikely that Cherki will be available for Manchester City’s next Premier League match against Burnley.
It would be a massive boost for Manchester City if Rayan Cherki returns ahead of schedule. It was expected that the French international would miss two months of football. He had made a promising start to life as a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad. Cherki scored in his Premier League debut against Wolves and showed plenty of quality during Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup run. Unfortunately for Cherki and Manchester City, injury hit at an unfortunate time.
But it seems that Rayan Cherki is on the verge of returning ahead of schedule. That will be a huge boost for Pep Guardiola’s side, and Cherki’s prodigious playmaking and technical ability will be a welcome addition to Manchester City’s play when he does return.
