Manchester City boss Andrée Jeglertz reveals that he is excited to work with new signing Grace Clinton this season.
Jeglertz’s side were beaten 2-1 in the first match of the 2025/26 Women’s Super League season against champions Chelsea as they look to challenge for the title this season.
Last year the Citzens missed out on European football last season as they finished fourth, 17 points behind the London side, but despite the loss at Stamford Bridge, they are improving.
They are also yet to add Lionesses star Grace Clinton to the squad who they signed from Manchester United this summer. Jeglertz says the former Tottenham star will make his side better.
“First of all, she’s a great football player, so that’s the first thing I would say with her. I think that she’s also a versatile player. We can use her both as a 10 and we can use her as a six so she can definitely be in different positions for how we are playing.
“But at the same time, I still think that we have already a great squad with a lot of great football players. Bringing her in will make us even stronger.”
Even though City lost against Chelsea there were still positives to take from the game. Khadija Shaw and Vivianne Miedema both had multiple big chances to score but were unable to finish on those occasions.
Jeglertz insists that he takes belief from his sides performance.
“I would say the belief was on showtoday Even if we concede one goal or two goals the team is strong. They keep on fighting. There is no player that is giving up. They keep on going and they believe a lot in what we are doing and how we are doing it and almost got a point.
“So I would say that I take belief from today because that’s a very important thing for the team to have that strength.”
