Marc-Andre ter Stegen is at the centre of transfer speculations at FC Barcelona heading into the January window.

After playing his first match of the season in the Copa del Rey against Guadalajara, following five months out injured, the German goalkeeper’s future remains uncertain.

Even though he got an unexpected start earlier this week, Barça are clear that he is not part of the team’s long-term plans.

No shortage of interest

Now, according to reports relayed by Mundo Deportivo, with the winter transfer window about to open, there is no shortage of interest in Ter Stegen.

Indeed, there is a long list of clubs wanting to sign the Barcelona captain in the upcoming transfer window, with Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur featuring on it.

Meanwhile, other teams like AS Monaco, Besiktas and Bayern Munich are also among those most keen on acquiring the services of the 33-year-old shot-stopper.

It is now up to Ter Stegen to decide whether he wants to remain at the club until the end of the season, accepting a non-starting role, or seek a change of scenery on loan with the 2026 FIFA World Cup in mind.

So far, the veteran goalkeeper has remained firm on his stance of not wanting to leave Barcelona in January.

But, if a concrete offer with an attractive sporting project comes along, Ter Stegen might change his mind, especially given that he needs to play regularly in order to go into the World Cup as Germany’s No. 1.

So, the upcoming few weeks will be intriguing to see whether the alleged interest in Ter Stegen leads to anything substantial and if an exit materialises in January.
