The Manuel Ugarte transfer to Manchester United could be coming down to the wire despite recent reports suggesting that the Red Devils have an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain.

On Monday, information from Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth surfaced regarding Manchester United and PSG having reached an agreement in principle on Ugarte’s transfer, with the deal estimated at around £50 million.

Moreover, the reporting revealed that discussions are still underway to finalize the payment structure and performance-related add-ons. Nonetheless, a report from Football Transfers paints a different picture, one that will have many on the edge of their seats to see if this transfer gets done.

The outlet reports that they’ve spoken to a source who says United’s pursuit of Ugarte is “definitely not close” and that this saga is likely to stretch until the very end.

Ugarte made 37 appearances across all competitions for the reigning Ligue 1 champions last season, recording three assists.

The PSG midfielder began the first half of the campaign playing well, but his minutes fell off in the second half as he was used more as a rotational player rather than a starter.
