Manchester United appear to have identified a new transfer target in the form of Eduard Spertsyan.

An Armenian attacking midfielder, Spertsyan plays for FC Krasnodar in Russia’s Premier Liga.

Last season, he enjoyed an impactful campaign, scoring 11 goals and making seven assists in 28 league games as the club captain.

Most importantly, he guided his club to the 2025 Russian Premier Liga title, the first in the club’s history.

Given his recent achievements, Spertsyan appears to be attracting the interest of several elite clubs across Europe.

“At the moment, Ajax seems to have a concrete advantage, but the player is also being carefully monitored by Manchester United, PSG and Brentford, as well as Atalanta, of course,” Tutto Atalanta reported.

“Buying in Russia is never eas,y and Krasnodar, strong from the title they just won, are in no hurry to sell. Spertsyan is valued at around 25 million euros, a significant figure that could complicate the negotiations for the interested clubs,” the article continued.

Capable of playing as both a left- and right-winger as well as down the centre as a number 10, Spertsyan comes across as a versatile player who would likely fit into the preferred 3-4-2-1 system preferred by United manager Ruben Amorim.

Of course, United’s interest in Spertsyan could be impacted by the success of their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo.

With United reportedly submitting an improved offer of £63 million plus add-ons for the Brentford star, it appears that Mbeumo’s transfer saga could be nearing its conclusion.

Still, Spertsyan could be an appealing signing, even if used as a backup option.

After all, his reported price tag of €25 million is significantly cheaper than that of Mbeumo, meaning that his transfer would be kinder on United’s budget.
