Marco Silva: Milan ‘to consider’ appointment as Benfica face competition

Benfica are no longer alone in the chase for Marco Silva, with Milan emerging as a strong contender, Gazzetta suggests.

Interest in the former Sporting coach is rising as he reaches the final stages of his Fulham contract.

The report said Milan missed out on next season's Champions League and are looking to make major changes across squad and staff. Marco Silva is being considered as a candidate to succeed Massimiliano Allegri.

However, the report added that Milan have a preferred option above Silva. Antonio Conte, who has announced his departure from Napoli, could be targeted first.

Meanwhile, Benfica are not planning any move for César Peixoto. The competition for Silva's signature, though, appears to be intensifying.
