Bournemouth have confirmed on their official site that Marcos Senesi will be leaving the club as a free agent this summer.

“AFC Bournemouth can confirm that Marcos Senesi will leave the club this summer upon the expiry of his contract, bringing an end to four memorable years on the south coast,” the club said in a statement on their official site.

This has been coming for some time, with our sources telling us a few months ago that Senesi had decided not to sign a new contract with the Cherries.

We’ve since been given information about Tottenham being in advanced talks to sign Senesi, and now his departure from Bournemouth has been officially announced.

What next for Marcos Senesi after Bournemouth exit?

Senesi has impressed for Bournemouth and will surely be a loss for the south coast club, with plenty of big names interested in snapping him up on a free transfer this summer.

See below as Ben Jacobs has posted on X about the Argentine having an agreement with Spurs as long as they don’t get relegated, while Liverpool and Manchester United also have an interest…

“Bournemouth confirm Marcos Senesi will leave as a free agent. Club have known about the departure since last year and both parties agreed on no January exit,” Jacobs posted.

“Spurs already have an agreement on terms with Senesi if they stay up. Manchester United have shown interest, while yet to decide whether to make a move. Could be contingent on whether Ibrahima Konate remains.”

Could Bournemouth lose more big names this summer?

Senesi leaving seems far from ideal after Bournemouth already sold both Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez last summer, and then Antoine Semenyo in January.

Meanwhile, their manager Andoni Iraola is also leaving at the end of the season, while there’ll surely be interest in other key players such as Eli Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott.

Bournemouth will hope to secure Champions League qualification in their final two matches of the season, and it will be interesting to see if that helps them keep more of their best players.

Senesi’s future has clearly already been decided, though, and he’s shown he could be a fine addition for bigger clubs.

Tottenham will no doubt hope they can avoid relegation and get this deal done, but if not then Man United look ready to swoop to improve their depth at the back after injury-hit seasons from the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.
