Martin O’Neill indicated only an extraordinary fee would make him consider selling Arne Engels, amid Nottingham Forest interest.

As reported by Nottingham Post, Celtic have rejected a third Forest offer believed to be about £25m for the 22-year-old.

O’Neill addressed the speculation after the 2-0 win over Falkirk on Sunday, saying he was unaware of any approach during the game. He added he would want any bid rebuffed unless it reached around £100m, that the board might then step in, and that he would rather keep the player.

Engels joined from FC Augsburg in summer 2024 and is under contract until at least June 2028. He has 15 goals and 20 assists in 89 appearances for Celtic and has been influential this season.

Forest have seen Douglas Luiz leave and return to Aston Villa earlier in the window, and they have also bid for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.
