Sky Sports reports Nottingham Forest have had offers for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney and Celtic’s Belgian international Arne Engels rejected.

Forest were fourth-bottom and began the weekend one point behind Leeds United. A 1-1 home draw with Crystal Palace left both on 26 points, six clear of West Ham.

The Reds are reportedly seeking a central midfielder and possibly a left back on deadline day to strengthen their squad.

The BBC says the bid for Engels was £17m. The figure for Hackney is unclear, and he opted to remain at The Riverside after a proposed £20m move to Ipswich Town in the summer.

Under Michael Carrick, it has been widely reported that Manchester United are eyeing Hackney for the summer, with a £30m move said to be under consideration.
