José Martínez has resolved outstanding matters in Venezuela and expects to return to Brazil to report back to Corinthians by the end of the week. According to Globo.com, the midfielder aims to rejoin the squad in the coming days.
He travelled to his home country at the end of 2025 to renew his passport, a step required to secure a new work visa for Brazil.
After the United States captured Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, some public services were halted or slowed, which kept Martínez in the country longer than planned.
He has had photos taken for the new passport and lodged the paperwork, and he hopes to fly back to Brazil on Friday.
His absence has caused discomfort among the board and coaching staff, who wanted him involved in pre-season, which began on three January.
Martínez has been training with a fitness coach, while Corinthians are monitoring him remotely and sending tailored sessions.
He is out of the match against RB Bragantino on Thursday and the clássico against São Paulo on Sunday at Neo Química Arena.
