José Martínez is aiming to rejoin Corinthians training next week after resolving passport issues in Venezuela. The midfielder plans to be back at the club by Sunday.

ge.globo reports that he has taken the required photo for his passport renewal and lodged the paperwork. The intention is to fly to Brazil before the end of the week.

He travelled home during the off-season to renew the document, as the previous passport would have blocked him from international matches such as the Libertadores. During that period, Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro was captured by the United States and the country entered instability. Borders with Brazil were closed and government services were halted or slowed.

The delay meant he missed the season opener against Ponte Preta and he will not face Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday or São Paulo on Sunday. He has been doing physical work in his homeland under club supervision.

In 2025, Martínez made 52 appearances, scored two goals and registered two assists for Corinthians. His contract runs until December 2027.
