Allegri: Milan new boy Modric ‘an absolute champion’

Allegri was also full of praise for goalscorer Modric, who joined the club in the summer on a free transfer from Real Madrid.

The 40-year-old midfielder took his goal well and proved decisive in the narrow win over Bologna.

“Luka is an absolute champion,” Allegri said, “his experience is crucial for us. He never holds back and sets an example for his teammates, not only with class but also with his willingness to sacrifice himself for the team. His goal is a fitting reward for all the work he’s putting in.”

The absence of continental football for the Rossoneri may suit Modric, allowing more recovery time in between important matches.
