Memphis will face an STJD hearing on Thursday over using a mobile phone on the bench during Corinthians 1-1 Flamengo in the eighth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro at Neo Química Arena.
According to Globo.com, he has been cited under Article 258 of the CBJD, with Article 191 of the competition regulations also applied. If found guilty, he could receive a suspension of one to six matches and a proportional fine.
He had been substituted in the 22nd minute of the first half with pain in his right thigh. While on the bench he used his phone and was immediately reprimanded by the coaching staff, then led by Dorival Júnior. He has not played since, as he treats a grade 2 muscle injury in the same area.
Corinthians officials Leonardo Carnevale, the club’s brands and business manager, and Mauro da Silva, a technical observer with the first team, were also reported to the STJD. They were cited under Article 243, or alternatively Article 258, and face possible fines ranging from R$100 to R$100,000 and suspensions of one to six matches.
In his match report, referee Rodrigo José Pereira de Lima wrote that club staff came to the door of the officials’ dressing room to protest, using abusive language and alleging bias.
