FLW’s Sheffield United fan pundit has predicted whether Michael Cooper will still be at Bramall Lane beyond this season.
Sheffield United will be hopeful of ending their Championship season on a high despite an underwhelming campaign.
The Blades started off the term in worrying fashion by occupying the foot of the table under former Hull City boss Ruben Selles, with Chris Wilder returning to the club to help push them away from the relegation mire.
While they have achieved that, the Yorkshire outfit have failed to kick on any further under his guidance, still showing worrying inconsistencies, while the club is preparing for a rebuild this summer due to the loss of parachute payments by the Premier League.
With a place in mid-table all but secured, Wilder and the Sheffield United hierarchy will be looking ahead and making plans for next season, thinking about what the squad will want to look like for next term.
One player whose future may be up in the air is shot-stopper Michael Cooper, who has endured a difficult end to the campaign through injury.
The 26-year-old had been ruled out for the remainder of the term at the beginning of March after sustaining swelling on his knee, with Wilder revealing the issue was at the back of it.
Cooper’s past heroics in the second tier have had him linked with some big Premier League clubs, so his future does remain in doubt despite a lengthy lay-off.
With this in mind, FLW’s Sheffield United fan pundit has commented on whether he thinks the Blades number one will remain at Bramall Lane come the beginning of the 2026-27 season.

Speaking to Football League World, Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy (AKA Blades Ramble) believes Michael Cooper will remain a Blade heading into the 2026-27 season, as his lengthy lay-off may well have put off some Premier League teams from pursuing his signature.
Asked whether Michael Cooper will remain at Sheffield United beyond this season, Jimmy told FLW: “Absolutely.
“I know he’s attracted interest, but I think it will have waned most recently due to his injury status. He hasn’t been at the top of his game this season at all, he’s now injured until the end of the season, and a silver lining for Sheffield United is that he hasn’t been involved at the back end of the season.
“We’re obviously in a very poor position as a club and quite vulnerable when it comes to having to listen to offers for players, but the fact he hasn’t been playing, and when he went away to deal with his injuries, he hadn’t been playing the best.
“I think that suits us going into next season because I’m fully confident we’ll get a top-notch Michael Cooper next season between the sticks for Sheffield United.”

While Michael Cooper hasn’t had the best of seasons in a Sheffield United shirt, there’s no doubt he’s still one of the best shot-stoppers in the division, with his displays the term before showcasing what a top talent he is between the sticks.
While the injury he’s sustained will be frustrating, it could have actually arrived at the right time, allowing Cooper to reset and focus on getting back to his best, which can hopefully be the catalyst to seeing the Blades return to competing towards the top end of the Championship standings.
For any team to have success, it’s built on quality from the back, starting with the goalkeeper, and Sheffield United are very lucky to have someone of Cooper’s class, so they will be hopeful he will be sticking around.
The upcoming summer transfer window will be pivotal for the Blades as they aim to reshape their squad, with the quality of recruitment a telling factor as to where they will finish next term.
