Michael Olise stole the style spotlight as France checked in at Clairefontaine, his unusual headwear drawing instant reaction. Hugo Ekitike’s look also caught the eye.

According to Le Progres, the Bayern Munich midfielder arrived on Monday in a quilted black beanie with two ear-like points, paired with a dark grey ensemble, prompting mixed reviews on social media.

The players’ arrivals are routinely scrutinised for outfits and flair. With Jules Koundé sidelined by a hamstring problem and not selected by Didier Deschamps for the Brazil and Colombia friendlies, the fashion focus shifted to Olise.

Liverpool forward Ekitike, briefly a doubt for this camp, turned up in black leather jeans and a belt with a large red cross buckle. A jumper with very wide sleeves completed the look, sparking debate.

Others kept it classic. Aurélien Tchouaméni wore a grey tracksuit after Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Atlético on Sunday night in a frantic derby. Eduardo Camavinga opted for a greenish tone, perhaps a nod to the new away strip for the 2026 World Cup, unveiled earlier on Monday with a Statue of Liberty tribute.

France will wear the new kits in this week’s games in the United States, against Brazil on 26 March in Foxborough, Massachusetts, then Colombia on 29 March in Landover, Maryland.
