Cardoso hopeful of good playing conditions for Galaxy tie

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso hopes the pitch at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium is in good conditions for their Nedbank Cup Round of 16 clash against TS Galaxy on Saturday(15h00).

The Rockets opted against taking the match to Mbombela Stadium, instead, choosing a field utilised by Casric Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

With the match on the horizon, the Downs mentor has fingers crossed the pitch is in a playable state, with a spot in the quarter-finals of the competition at stake.

“Let's see what kind of pitch we are going to find because obviously the inspection of that pitch was done in the beginning of the season, but now let's hope the pitch is in good conditions because I believe that both teams are teams that know how to play the game,” said Cardoso.

"They know how to make a positive approach on the game and what everybody wants in the benefit of the competition is that there's a beautiful football game to be played and basically that's how I see the approach from ourselves.

On squaring off against Galaxy, Cardoso expects a tough test against a side that has somewhat become a tough nut to crack for Masandawana of late.

“Galaxy is a team that has a good technical staff, which I respect and I have consideration, even personal. And they will make for sure the best they can in order to manage the moments, the context and the game, trying to [make] difficult as possible our task,” he added.

"We need to be strong, we need to be resilient, we need to be clever, we need to understand how to approach that game.
