Gonçalo Ramos is Milan’s first signing of the summer, and he is set to become the club’s most expensive transfer in history.

The 2025/26 season ended with a huge disappointment for Milan as they missed out on the Champions League on the last Matchday of Serie A.

Club owner Gerry Cardinale decided to change everything afterwards, firing the CEO, Director of Sport, Head of Football and the Coach, and the new club structure sees Cardinale being a lot more hands on and involved, and no longer managing the club from afar.

Cardinale appointed coach Rúben Amorim and according to many reports he intends to back the Amorim. A first sign of that arrived yesterday, as Milan concluded the transfer of the first signing of the summer: Gonçalo Ramos.

The Rossoneri have been struggling up front since Olivier Giroud’s departure (and some would claim that even before that) and Amorim wanted a new strong striker to lead his line. As reported by many, many outlets (Sky Sport, Milannews.it, Fabrizio Romano, Matteo Moretto, The Athletic and others), Milan have found an agreement to sign the 25-year-old Ramos.

Gonçalo, who won 2 Champions League titles with PSG, although not as a main man, is represented by super agent Jorge Mendes who helped facilitate the deal. Ramos is set to become the club’s most expensive transfer in history, with the total deal exceeding €70m between fixed price and bonuses.

The player already underwent the medical while in the USA with the Portugal national team for the World Cup. He’ll sign a five-year deal reportedly worth €7m per season. Amorim personally requested the player and he already wanted to work with him when he was at Manchester United.

This is a clear sign from Milan and from Cardinale, who was yesterday personally at Casa Milan to oversee the transfer, that they intend to have an important mercato.
