Mohamed Salah arrives in Turkey to complete Trabzonspor move | OneFootball

Mohamed Salah is on the verge of completing a surprise move to Trabzonspor after arriving in Turkey ahead of his medical with the Super Lig side.

The 34-year-old was greeted by hundreds of supporters after landing in Istanbul, where he was pictured wearing a Trabzonspor shirt before travelling on to complete the final stages of the transfer.

The Turkish club confirmed on Tuesday that negotiations with the Egyptian forward were underway, with Salah available as a free agent following his departure from Liverpool earlier this summer.

Salah brings an extraordinary pedigree to Trabzonspor after nine trophy-laden years at Anfield. He scored 257 goals in 442 appearances for the Reds, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League and several other major honours to cement his place among Liverpool's greatest-ever players.

The Egyptian had been strongly linked with both Besiktas and a move to Saudi Arabia, but Trabzonspor ultimately won the race for his signature. The club finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season and will now hope Salah's arrival can boost their ambitions domestically and in Europe.

Salah also sent an early message to supporters on social media, saying: "Everywhere is Trabzon for us," before adding, "Trabzon, are you ready? See you very soon." His official unveiling is expected once he completes his medical and finalises the deal.
