Jose Mourinho has wasted little time in getting to know his Real Madrid squad, with the Portuguese coach already holding individual discussions with players ahead of the new season.
According to Jose Felix Diaz of AS, the conversations are expected to play a decisive role in determining which players remain at the Santiago Bernabeu and which ones could be moved on before the transfer window closes.
The journalist states that although Mourinho is satisfied with the quality currently available to him, he also believes there is room for further improvement.
The Portuguese has repeatedly conveyed that message, even as he acknowledges that the profile of player he wants next will come at a considerable cost.
With Real Madrid still studying the possibility of adding another midfielder, the club knows that any move for an elite target would likely exceed the €100 million mark, making departures an important part of the equation.

Rather than rushing into changes, Mourinho is taking a practical approach as he wants to evaluate every member of the squad.
The former Chelsea and Man United manager is speaking with players individually to better understand their ambitions, mindset and willingness to compete for a place in his plans.
These meetings are expected to provide clarity on several situations, particularly for players whose futures remain uncertain heading into pre-season.
Notably, the Real Madrid hierarchy is aware that strengthening the midfield remains one of Mourinho’s priorities, but they also understand that the market has become increasingly expensive.
This is why the information gathered from these conversations could ultimately determine how Real Madrid proceed in the coming weeks, especially when it comes to players who may no longer have a prominent role.

Despite already bringing in several signings this summer, Real Madrid continue to assess the possibility of adding another midfielder to Mourinho’s squad.
The profile being considered is expected to command a transfer fee well beyond €100 million, forcing the club to evaluate potential sales before entering advanced negotiations.
That scenario has increased the importance of Mourinho’s ongoing assessment process.
Simply put, the manager wants a complete picture of the squad before recommending any departures.
