NAC Breda hoping to sell former Fulham and Huddersfield Town defender this January | OneFootball

NAC Breda have made the decision to move Terence Kongolo to the U21 side as they no longer see him as part of their plans for the future. The former Fulham and Huddersfield defender is said to now have to train with the U21 for the rest of the season, although this feels like a move by the club to try and force the player to move on. NAC Breda are currently last in the Eredivisie and facing relegation, just a year after they made a return via the play-offs. That the former Fulham and Huddersfield defender is no longer considered part of the plans is a pretty damning indictment given their predicament.

Kongolo began his career with Feyenoord, where he played 138 games between 2011 and 2017. The defender spent just one year with Monaco before moving to England to join Huddersfield. Kongolo initially joined the Terrires on loan for the end of the 2017/2018 season before a permanent move the following season. Kongolo spent just a few seasons with the club before joining Fulham, again initially on loan before a permanent switch.

Kongolo had made 60 appearances for Huddersfield in both the Premier League and the Championship before joining Fulham, but never really amounted to much during his time in West London. Kongolo only made two appearances for Fulham, spending most of his time out on loan at Le Havre and Rapid Wien. In 2024 he joined NAC Breda on their return to the Eredivisie. He has made 23 appearances for the club, with just five of those coming this year. It looks highly unlikely that he will be adding to these.

Kongolo isn’t the only former Fulham man to be in the NAC Breda squad. Denis Odoi, who spent a few seasons in the Premier League and Championship with Fulham, joined NAC Breda a few months ago.
