Atlético Ottawa is looking for a bounce-back performance after being blanked in its Champions Cup debut.

This is only the second time in the history of the tournament that teams from the U.S. and Canada face each other in the opening round. Orlando City SC defeated Cavalry FC, 6-1, on aggregate in the other instance.

The winner on aggregate will play reigning MLS Cup champions Inter Miami CF in the Round of 16. Away goals serve as the first tiebreaker with extra time, and a penalty shootout, to be played if necessary.

Post-Match Data

Woobens Pacius scored his first goal in the history of the tournament. Sam Surridge netted his 3rd goal in the Concacaf Champions Cup, his 2nd in the First Round after scoring against Moca FC (Feb-22-2024). Sam Surridge equaled Jacob Shaffelburg as Nashville SC’s all-time leading scorers with 3 goals.

Debut with negative records for Atlético Ottawa

With the defeat in its Concacaf Champions Cup debut, Atlético Ottawa became the first Canadian team to lose its first match by a 2-0 scoreline; the first was White Eagles against CF Monterrey (Jul-5-1975) in the first leg of the North America First Round, with goals by Alfredo “El Alacrán” Jiménez and José Sánchez. At the same time, it became the second to lose against a United States opponent in tournament history after Cavalry FC fell to Orlando City (Feb-21-2024, First Round). Cavalry and Atlético Ottawa are the only Canadian clubs to lose their debut match against a United States side, with Cavalry being eliminated, and the seventh Canadian representative to lose the first leg of any series in Concacaf Champions Cup history.

Nashville SC ended winless streak

The 2-0 victory against Atlético Ottawa helped Nashville SC end a two-match winless streak in the Concacaf Champions Cup (D-1 L-1). It was the 3rd win in 5 matches for the United States club, the first against a debuting team, and the second away victory in three visits.
