A fresh transfer update involving former Birmingham City striker Che Adams has emerged, and it is one which may interest plenty of Bluenoses amid recent discourse.

Blues haven't been afraid to continue showcasing their pulling power throughout the entirety of the current winter window, as Chris Davies, Craig Gardner and Tom Wagner have overseen, and may continue to oversee, a hefty squad reshuffle.

A plethora of players who had previously been on the fringes of the starting lineup at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park have seen departures sanctioned on either a permanent or temporary basis, whilst both Eiran Cashin and Lewis Koumas had seen their respective loan stints from Brighton and Hove Albion and Liverpool terminated ahead of schedule.

So far, Birmingham have recruited five new players themselves, on top of the 14 which came through the door in the summer transfer window as the club look to mount an immediate push towards the play-offs after regaining their Championship status as record-breaking League One champions.

Kai Wagner was the first of those to arrive, with the German left-back joining from MLS side, Philadelphia Union, before two further loan captures were confirmed in the form of Jhon Solis from Girona FC - in a move which could be turned permanent - as well as Ibrahim Osman from Brighton.

Two rather eye-catching deals have since followed though. Blues were then able to fend off interest from Besiktas and LOSC Lille in the services of highly-rated Danish youth international striker, August Priske, from Djurgardens IF, before also completing the signing of Carlos Vicente from La Liga side, Deportivo Alaves, ahead of Dutch and European powerhouses, Ajax.

It remains to be seen what further business is conducted in this part of the West Midlands between now and Monday's deadline of 7PM, with Davies seemingly looking to add depth to his defensive department due to injury and fitness concerns.

However, Adams, who has been heavily linked with a return to Birmingham throughout the season, could be moving just a matter of miles further up the M6 to local rivals, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to talkSPORT, the Scotland international forward could potentially be set for a return to English football with the Premier League's bottom side.

Rob Edwards is currently in the midst of his first transfer window at Molineux after joining from Championship promotion hopefuls, Middlesbrough, in rather controversial circumstances back in November, but is yet to make his first signing as Wolves head coach.

The Old Gold and Black have been linked with a handful of potential moves in the market, which included potentially rivalling Blues for the services of FC Basel winger, Philip Otele, as well as seeing their aim of securing a cut-price deal for Anis Mehmeti quashed as the Albanian joined Ipswich Town.

However, with time now not on the side of any club when it comes to negotiations, Wolves forward, Jorgen Strand Larsen, continues to be the subject of exit talk in the window's final days.

The Norwegian was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United in the summer, and despite his lacklustre campaign in front of goal for the Black Country side this term, he has since become the subject of interest from Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

However, whilst it has been claimed that a £50m switch to Selhurst Park is hanging in the balance, Wolves have turned their attention to Adams as a potential replacement.

The 45-time international is currently in his second season with Torino after departing Southampton on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, some five years after his spell with Blues, in which he recorded 38 goals in 123 appearances, saw him move to St. Mary's for a reported £15m.

Adams was namedropped once more as a potential striking addition at St. Andrew's earlier in the window, before talk of a reunion chilled amid Priske's eventual arrival.

Although Blues have previously faced off against Adams for Southampton in 2023/24, it would sting supporters to see their former favourite donning the Wolves badge on his chest, such is the rivalry between the two sides.

However, with Wanderers' fate seemingly sealed for the season despite a recent upsurge in results, acquiring the Leicester-born forward's services ahead of a first season at Championship level for eight years would be a particularly shrewd deal.

Overall, the striker has scored 49 times in 156 appearances in the second tier, with not many boasting a better record within the past decade.
