With the summer transfer window approaching, the race to sign AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara (22) is heating up. As per a report from Foot Mercato, long-term suitors Newcastle United have held talks with the Senegal international.
Camara is one of several players, as well as Maghnes Akliouche and Folarin Balogun, expected to leave Monaco in the summer, with the club confirmed to miss out on UEFA Champions League football. Foot Mercato understands that the Principality club’s asking price for the midfielder is set at €50m.
Newcastle United have held an interest for several months. Foot Mercato report that they have held talks with the player’s entourage, which has since been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. However, the Tyneside club aren’t the only interested party and they could yet face competition from Liverpool.
As per Foot Mercato, they are expected to respond to Newcastle’s heightened attempts to reach an agreement with the former FC Metz midfielder.
