Neymar call-up sends Santos soaring on social media | OneFootball

Neymar’s call-up by head coach Carlo Ancelotti for the 2026 World Cup has sparked a surge across Santos’ social channels since Monday 18. According to Diario Do Peixe, Instagram alone delivered 58.2 million views and more than 500,000 comments or shares on related posts.

Across the club’s official accounts on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, YouTube and TikTok, total engagement reached 6.2 million. The spike followed a coordinated content plan built around the announcement.

Santos TV and the Branding team produced nine pieces, planned days in advance to create a World Cup feel around the long awaited news conference at the Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro.

Creative assets included three designs pairing Neymar with Pelé to highlight the club’s black and white lineage. Other posts leaned on humour to fire up supporters during the pre-World Cup build-up.

Three further items focused on Neymar’s bond with Santos, among them an emotional Santos TV video revisiting moments for club and national team. A carousel set out 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2026 as the years he represented Santos in the national side, and another clip showed Meninos da Vila of various ages celebrating his call-up at CT Rei Pelé as if it were a decisive goal.
