Neymar misses Santos training with virus but set for Copa Sul-Americana trip | OneFootball

Neymar missed Santos training on Sunday at CT Rei Pelé after falling ill with a virus. The club said he was treated on Saturday night, responded well and remains under medical supervision.

He is confirmed in the travelling party to Argentina for Tuesday’s Copa Sul-Americana tie against San Lorenzo. He had been scheduled to train with those who stayed in the Baixada Santista and did not travel to face Bahia.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão, right-back Igor Vinicius, midfielder Willian Arão and striker Gabriel Barbosa will link up with the squad in Buenos Aires on Monday.

The rest of the group flew from Salvador to Argentina on Sunday afternoon. Santos will hold a final session in Buenos Aires on Monday before the match.

Neymar was rested for the Bahia game after a run of four matches completed over 90 minutes. He is expected to start in the Copa Sul-Americana and could at least make the bench for Saturday’s clássico against Palmeiras at Allianz Parque in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
