Kettering Town have released an official statement (see below) revealing that they are now the very latest to bid farewell to Nile Ranger.

This time though, there is a major twist.

The owner of Kettering Town with only good things to say about Nile Ranger.

He has praised the ‘commitment’ of Nile Ranger across these past 13 months at the club and wished him every success in the future.

Maybe the penny has finally dropped for the former Newcastle United player, shame it has taken him to the age of 34 and playing in the seventh tier of English football…

Kettering Town FC official statement – 12 October 2025:

‘Kettering Town FC can confirm that Nile Ranger has left the Club with immediate effect by mutual consent.

Ranger made his debut against St Ives Town on 9th September 2024 and scored his first goal, a penalty, in the (FAC2Q) tie versus Cleethorpes Town in our 1-0 win.

Having made his 50th appearance on Saturday at Alvechurch, being joint top league goal scorer with 6 goals in ten games and scoring 18 goals in all competitions, Nile will forever be remembered as part of recent Poppies folklore with his unforgettable headed winning goal at Sixfields against Northampton Town in the FAC1Rd in front of the BBC camera’s.

The Club’s owner, George Akhtar, commented “I want to personally thank Nile Ranger for the memories he has left the Kettering Town faithful. His commitment to the Club, both on and off the pitch, is a testament to him. You will be missed. Big players step up in big games and that’s what epitomises Nile Ranger. Go well Nile.”
