Leeds United are assessing relegated Premier League rivals for summer reinforcements after a 3-0 final-day defeat at West Ham. Daniel Farke’s side had been safe for two weeks and finished 14th, though victory could have lifted them to 12th.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, nine names stand out across West Ham, Burnley and Wolves.
West Ham’s win proved academic, their relegation confirmed by Tottenham’s victory over Everton, and talk of raising over £150m through sales followed. Mateus Fernandes, 21, three goals and four assists, Jarrod Bowen, 29, nine goals and 11 assists, and left-footed centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, three league goals, could all appeal, though Fernandes in particular may attract Champions League interest.
With Pascal Struijk entering his final year, Leeds still require another left-footer, and Burnley’s Maxime Esteve, 23, is reportedly a target for Everton and Bournemouth. Midfield options include Lesley Ugochukwu, 22, three goals after a fee of over £20m, a box-to-box profile, and Florentino Luis, 26, a more defensive option after a loan that included an option around £20m.
Wolves offer Ladislav Krejci, 27, strong on the ball on the left of a back three or four, with his loan from Girona due to become a permanent move for around £26m. Joao Gomes has been close to ever-present in midfield but links to Champions League clubs make him ambitious. At left wing-back, 23-year-old Hugo Bueno could provide competition for Gabriel Gudmundsson.
