The Cuba international could make his debut for the Addicks at Portman Road on Tuesday night.
Former Norwich City winger Onel Hernandez could make his Charlton Athletic debut against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old signed a short-term deal with the Addicks last month, having left Carrow Road at the end of his contract in the summer following a seven-and-a-half year spell with the Canaries.
Hernandez made over 200 appearances for Norwich during his time in Norfolk, and enjoyed a good relationship with the supporters, which was evident during his farewell game for the club against Cardiff City on the final day of last season.
The winger helped Norwich reach the Premier League in 2019, made 41 goal contributions during his time at the club, and played his part in extending the Canaries' unbeaten run against rivals Ipswich Town, so it is easy to see why he was a popular figure with the supporters.
However, since Hernandez's departure, things have not gone to plan at Carrow Road. Norwich have struggled to find form under new boss Liam Manning, and they were beaten by Ipswich for the first time in 16 years earlier this month.
Norwich supporters will no doubt be disappointed with their side's start to the 2025/26 season, but Hernandez could bring a smile to their faces if he is able to make an impact against Ipswich for his new club Charlton.
One of the most surprising moves of the summer transfer window in the Championship saw Marcelino Nunez become the first player in 24 years to join Ipswich Town from Norwich City, in a deal worth £10 million.
The Chilean midfielder came off the bench during the Tractor Boys' derby day victory at Portman Road a few weeks ago, and his post-match celebrations suggested that he does not have too many regrets about swapping yellow for blue during the summer.
Onel Hernandez made it clear that he was not impressed by his former teammate's decision to join Ipswich at the time, as per his YouTube channel.
"I knew last season that a few clubs showed some interest in him," Hernandez said.
"I spoke to him about it, and he said, 'Look, I am very ambitious. I want to play in the highest leagues in the world.'
"He always told me there is interest from that club, there is interest from that club and there is interest from that club. There was also interest from Ipswich.
"I told him, 'You know if you consider a move there, what will happen?' I explained everything. He knew about it.
"If I get the chance of playing against you, I will f****** break you. That is what I say to him."
Now, Hernandez could make his debut for Charlton against Ipswich at Portman Road, so it will be very interesting to see what happens if he does come up against Nunez on Tuesday night.
Hernandez has been named on the bench by Nathan Jones for Charlton's last two games, so he will be hoping to make his first appearance for the Addicks against Ipswich in midweek.
If the Cuba international does feature, he will be looking to make it five games unbeaten against the Tractor Boys.
He has won one and drawn three of his previous meetings with Ipswich, with a goal in Norwich's 3-0 victory over them during the 2018/19 season.
