The prospect of Alisson Becker leaving Liverpool suddenly looks very real.
The 33-year-old only signed a fresh contract extension a matter of weeks ago - tying him to the club until 2027. But transfer noise around a potential move to Juventus simply won’t go away.
The Italian giants appear adamant about signing the Brazil No1 - with the Old Lady now coached by Alisson’s former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti.
Juve are prepared to offer Alisson a lucrative “2+1” deal - two years guaranteed with the option of a third. Given his age that might be too tempting for Alisson to turn down - but it remains to be seen whether Richard Hughes compromises on a transfer fee.
The Turin club would ideally like him for free - but a report in Tutto Juve puts the potential fee at €10m.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is already in place as a replacement - but it looks like Liverpool decision-makers are not altogether comfortable in making the Georgian No1 going forward.
Instead they are combing the market for reinforcements - with the Tutto Juve report claiming that Lucas Chevalier is high on the Premier League champions’ list.
The 24-year-old was Gianluigi Donnarumma’s replacement at Paris Saint-Germain last summer - signing from Lille for around €40m.
But the France international has had a shaky start for the treble winners - ceding his place in the team to Matvey Safanov.
Despite a contract until 2030 Chevalier could be sold by Luis Enrique this summer and Liverpool could be prepared to do a deal.
“The name they're most interested in is Lucas Chevalier, the French goalkeeper from Paris Saint-Germain,” the report reads.
“Long monitored by the Reds' scouts, the 2001-born player could leave Paris after a difficult season.
“Despite his transfer from Lille for around €40 million, Lucas Chevalier has found little playing time at PSG, where Luis Enrique has opted to focus on Matvey Safonov.”
Another name in the frame to potentially replace Alisson is Emiliano Martinez.
With Villa needing a big-money sale this summer the Argentina World Cup winner is expected to be made available. Liverpool recruiters rate the stopper based on his leadership and personality.
It’s clear based on these reports that Mamardashvili won’t be the one to succeed Alisson without a fight and he can expect intense competition for that starting spot either from Chevalier or Martinez.
