Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven, according to the Telegraph.
Anthony Elanga is closing in on a move to Newcastle United, and Forest need a replacement.
They are planning to open talks with PSV about a move for Bakayoko over the next few days.
PSV could demand over £30 million for the winger. If the deal goes through, it could break Forest’s current transfer record.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants a strong squad to cope with the demands of European football.
Bakayoko’s ability to play in different positions would make him a useful option for the Forest boss.
The winger can operate on either flank and has also featured as an inside forward or second striker when needed.
Bakayoko had a strong season with PSV, bagging 12 goals and three assists in all competitions.
He is renowned for his speed, dribbling and confidence in one-on-one situations. He also links well with teammates during attacking moves.
The Belgian is a left-footed player who often plays on the right. He likes to cut inside and shoot or create chances for others.
His direct style of play and ability to beat defenders in wide areas are key traits that appeal to Forest.
