Former Chelsea player Florent Malouda believes Cole Palmer needs to “build his physique” so he can play every game for the Blues.
Palmer has been nothing short of a revelation since arriving at Chelsea from Manchester City two years ago, and has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.
Despite the attacking quality signed this summer the England international is still Chelsea’s go to player, and is very much the jewel in the crown.
Palmer struggled over the second half of last season, but as he’s shown time and again he shows up when it matters most.
The 23-year-old was named man of the match in both the Conference League final, and Club World Cup final as he stole the show.
Palmer hasn’t had the best start to the season and has only featured in one of Chelsea’s opening three league matches.

The England international featured against Crystal Palace, but missed the wins against West Ham and Fulham through injury, although Palmer has shared an update to Instagram.
Palmer withdrew in the warm-up against the Hammers, and it’s hoped he will return after the international break, but there’s yet to be an official update on that.
Chelsea will hope Palmer is back as soon as possible with the Champions League starting next week, and Malouda has made a claim about the Englishman.
“Cole Palmer is the key player,” he said as quoted on X.com.
“He has proven he has the shoulders for this. Now it’s about building his physique to play every game. Every time he’s fit, he’s an impact player with a big impact on positive results.
“We definitely need him. When we play a team, they almost always try to block Cole Palmer and his impact on the result.”
Whilst being without Palmer is a blow, Chelsea now have the strength and quality in depth to deal with his absence.
