Official: Barcelona defensive starlet renews contract until 2028 | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have announced that they have successfully renewed the contract of young defender Alvaro Cortes until 2028. The deal also contains an option to extend the deal by one more year.

“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with player Alvaro Cortes to renew his contract, which will tie him to the Club for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028, with the option to extend the bond that unites both parties for another year.”

Currently the captain of Barça Atletic, Cortes joined La Masia from the Real Zaragoza youth academy in 2021 and has steadily grown through the ranks at the club.

During this period, he also spent a season away on loan at CF Damm before eventually establishing himself in the Blaugrana reserve team.

Now a permanent fixture for Juliano Belletti’s side, Cortes has played 22 times for Barça Atletic this season.

Meanwhile, the young defender has also made progress towards achieving a first-team breakthrough, having been training with Hansi Flick regularly over the past couple of weeks and even being included in matchday squads.

Now, Barcelona have moved forward to tie down his future for two more years, with the option of further extending it by another season.
