La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday announced a major injury setback in the club’s first-team squad.
This comes amid confirmation that a member of the Blaugrana’s midfield ranks is set for a lengthy incoming spell on the sidelines.
The player in question? Gavi.
The name of youngster Gavi has of course positioned itself centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.
As much comes after Barcelona announced that the 21-year-old was set to go under the knife, to repair an ongoing problem in the same knee in which he previously tore the ACL.
Ensuing reports had since pointed towards a likely spell of four to six weeks on the sidelines for Gavi.
As alluded to above, however, the Spanish international is in fact facing up to an altogether more significant absence.
As per a statement across Barca’s official website and social media platforms:
‘First team player Pablo Páez Gavira ‘Gavi’ has had an arthroscopy to resolve a medial meniscus injury, which was sutured to preserve the meniscus. Recovery time is estimated at around 4-5 months.’
