La Liga leaders Real Madrid have on Monday announced a double blow on the personnel front in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation that both Federico Valverde and Thibaut Courtois are set for incoming spells on the sidelines.
Both midfielder Valverde and goalkeeper Courtois featured from the off on Sunday, as Real Madrid made the trip to Vallecas for a league meeting with Rayo Vallecano.
En route to a disappointing goalless stalemate, however, the pair suffered respective fitness setbacks.
In the case of the former, who limped out of proceedings late on clutching the back of his right leg, Real Madrid have announced:
‘Following tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh. His recovery will be assessed.’
Turning focus to teammate Thibaut Courtois, meanwhile, the medical report is as follows:
‘Following tests carried out today on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the long abductor muscle in his right leg. His recovery will be assessed.’
It is currently unclear how long the pair are due to be sidelined, but both look set to sit out the November international break.
